As promised, Steve Jobs — The Lost Interview is returning to theaters from Magnolia Pictures with a new print restored literally with rocket science courtesy of MotionDSP. The first U.S. and Canadian play dates are below. If people go to the film there will be more theaters added. Video on demand and a DVD will be next, followed eventually by general online distribution.
International distribution is coming, too. The film is screening this week in Cannes with theaters and play dates to be named shortly.

This first is a first! Looks like it’ll be in my area – hope to get in to see it.
Again, nothing in Utah and as much as I enjoy your writing and show I’m not driving to California to see it. We have a few independent theaters in the Salt Lake Valley area. Tower Theater (876 East 900 South, Salt Lake City, UT – 801-321-0310) or the Broadway Center Theatre (111 East Broadway, Salt Lake City, UT – (801) 321-0310) You can also try the local Megaplex chain too: http://bit.ly/Jm05BW
And I’ve noticed you seem to be geographically challenged. It looks like only the costal states of the country get to see the tapes. Booo.
No tapes. This time it is in 35mm. As I wrote, more theaters will be added. Magnolia only announced these dates this morning.
Frankly, if there’s a local theater where you’ve seen documentaries before, give them a call and ask the manager to book this film. Explain to him or her how it is unique and the broad interest that resides in your community. Theater managers live for calls like that because they lead to ticket sales.
Still waiting for DVD or Bluray…
Just like Hollywood – Canada is not “international” for some reason. But seriously, why Montreal but not Toronto? There are two indie/art house screens within a couple of blocks of my house that I can suggest. One even hosts digital post-production on the side.
Regardless, good to see this out there.
Don’t blame Hollywood, no show dates for Southern California at all.
There will be more Canadian theaters, I’m sure — ESPECIALLY if you call your favorite art house and ask them to book the movie. Or you can just bitch and moan.
Well, I let Cineplex know about the film. Magnolia normally is good about getting films into Canadian cinemas, though they often show as special one-night events unless the theatre really thinks there’s demand for it. This type of movie, who knows …? I’d see it for sure, though, and given the number of geeks in Toronto, I’m sure others would too. Thanks for the heads up, Bob, now it’s just wait-and-see.
Not bitching and moaning; just find it amusing that you’ve fallen into the Hollywood-think that has always treated Canada as some little corner of the US with regard to film distribution, licensing, etc, whereas *all* other countries are “international”. Same terminology applies to phone calls and airline flights.
But I will call my two local indy places and report back.
Now when you say “35 mm”, do you really mean film? Sprockets and all? Do many places still have actual film projectors? Or is 35 mm just current lingo for a certain level of digital encoding?
Please show the film in Los Angeles or Orange County!
Ask the manager of your local theater to book the movie. Chances are they don’t know it exists.
Okay I’ll call. Any chance landmark would show it again? I didn’t have a car the first time they showed it.
Why don’t you put it up on NetFlix?
Never mind…. didn’t read the last part! 🙂
Netflix will come but there’s a food chain here and Netflix is toward the cheap end, Roger. I’m counting on this film to put my kids through college.
Good for you, Cringe! Mine just finished up a Texas State – $$$$$$!!!!!! Ouch!
🙂
Nice timing on the “lost” interview. Haha.
I’ll be in Taos. Curious why it’s not in Santa Fe or Albuquerque, but it’s worth the drive. (BTW, for those geographically-challenged, New Mexico isn’t on a coast.)
Hmmm. Long way from the Gold Coast. Congrats for the breakthough. Come to the Land Down Under one day, Bob, and play it at Tropfest.
I’m sure it will be playing shortly in Australia.
You bloody beauty! Hope it earns enough for doctorates
Blue Light Cinemas in Cupertino? Oof. You could have degraded the print rather than enhanced it and you’d not be able to tell the difference with their low-end projection facilities (it’s a “budget” theater). Too bad AMC 16 Cupertino isn’t an option (they do all kinds of the one-off opera, motivational speakers, and other in-theater telecasts).
Thank you — to you and the whole team. The effort is appreciated.
Anyone interested in seeing this flick in Cleveland, Ohio, just drop a note to Dave Huffman at: dhuffman@clevelandcinemas.com. It’s perfect for the Cedar Lee.
Just sent off an email. Thanks for posting this!
Bad news. Dave Huffman said it ran in November and there are NO PLANS to bring it back!
Cool, one showing near me, I’m there. Bob, why not let your kids forego college and just start companies of their own? Seems to be commom within the geek realm.
Duhhh… you need at least two years of college to be funded by a VC to start a company.
I’ve contacted a local theatre and suggested it. Hopefully they take interest and play it here in Edmonton AB.
I’m in Edmonton as well. With a population of a million it should support a few showings. It’s not all oil up here.. well, not quite.
You booked Seattle’s only play date on Mother’s Day? Really? Unfortunately, it turns out I already have plans that day.
I sent email to my local art house. I hope they’ll book it. If not, I’ll look forward to seeing it on DVD.
Hey Bob,
I would pay $19, right now, to stream this. Right now.
The Jobs juice is running out, so you need to hurry putting this out to the general public, world wide – if you wanna make some big bucks.
Rialto Theatre
4.0 star rating

Rochester, NY is the last stop?!? Especially since you are using real film, the birthplace of that medium should have been your first stop. OK. I’ll reluctantly wait ’til August to watch the film.
Disappointed in Rochester
No Dallas dates? When I went the last time it was in Dallas the theater was almost full. Would you consider a private showing for a group of 70? Maybe we will just wait for the Blue Ray/DVD.

Any progress on identifying Hollywood accomplice for definitive documentary?
May be able to help with intro if desired.
Hey! It opens in Montreal. Way cool, I’ll be able to see it.
Coming to the Darkside?! Bob, you made may day!
I just emailed 2 local art house theatres in Raleigh/Durham, NC, asking them to bring the film here. Hopefully you’ll get some kind of response from them, Bob!
Mark, which theaters did you contact? I will contact them too.
The ShowRoom in Asbury Park, NJ!
A great place run by two people who are helping Asbury Park to make a comeback.
And on my birthday yet! Thanks Bob!
Now I just have to explain to my wife that this is what I want to do that evening. Although…there’s a great restaurant right around the corner from there…hmm, I see a plan.
As this movie is not released in Australia…so I tried to download torrent of it…but unfortunately there are no torrents available except the fake ones….I am wondering how come there was no piracy of this movie? Any thoughts ..Bob?
1) I’ll try to remember to contact a theater or two I know here in Chicago. Although I’m pretty surprised there’s no coverage there yet!
2) I would love to see a Louis C.K.-style internet release ($5 for digital download). I think he made enough for a few college educations.
New York City has more indie cinemas than almost every other city. Just sayin’ 😉
When the DVD comes out us Deaf folks sure hopes it has close captions (CC).

Salutations…
I considered leaving this pingback awesome option…
Saw it in SF at The Castro. All I can say is WOW. Most captivating thing I’ve seen in a long time. Bravo!
I believe the facts written within your write-up is really superb. I’ve been doing work on a preliminary analysis mission regarding this topic and your weblog really helped with numerous considerations that I had. I’m creating a term paper for school and I?m currently following many blogs for assessment.
Will there be any more showings at a later date? The Screenland in Kansas City would be a great place.
