Happy Father’s day, Bob.
The only problem with being married to me is that I would be besides myself.
Being beside oneself is not necessarily problem: “Beside myself: Extreme joy, anger, etc., brought on by a situation that causes one to be ‘out of one’s mind’ with that emotion.”
https://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=Beside+myself
What makes the day special is that you have to have a wonderful wife! I would have loved to have you for a father.
Happy Father’s Day to all!
All my kids are step children. I think they appreciate me more because I’m here for them, unlike their
biological fathers.
A couple weeks ago my (now adult) son was looking through my closet for a tie. He found many of my ties funny and asked why I kept them. I reminded him they were Father’s Day gifts and I wear them at work with great pride. Someday he will be a father and realize the love of one’s kids trumps good fashion every time.
Well done!!
Can someone translate the whole mug to me to elementary English? It’s either a misspelling or an expression; the point is; I do not get it. I am not a native speaker. Thanks
The mug is a gift from his wife. Those are her words addressed to him. (Wife is speaking to husband, saying that he is lucky to have her.)
Ah! Looks like a genuine compliment, then! Or, something.
Bob is very lucky to have met and married Mary Alyce. Mary Alyce probably reminds him constantly of his really good fortune to be living with HER. My wife reminds me often of my good luck in meeting her. As a good husband I must agree.
Happy Father’s Day Bob!
Nice mug 🙂
…..
I’ve been waiting for some pithy patented Cringely insight into the US Office of Personel Management breaches. Apparently the number of leaked personnel records of government workers and contractors might be as high as 14 million.

What are your thoughts on the matter?
The interesting question is really — which government agency or business will be the next to fall to a cyber theft? When you look at the variety of attacks so far it is clear everyone is at risk and it is a only matter of time until the next victim will fall.
.
I wonder how many more attacks it will take before governments around the world become sufficiently alarmed and begin to take action.
Simple test: Next Mother’s Day, give your wife a coffee mug (or card or poster, shopping bag, whatever) that says “You are the luckiest woman in the world…I would love to have a great partner like me. That’s all.”
And, if she smiles and is happy and gets as much of a kick out of it as you got out of her present, and she feels as lucky to have you as you feel to have her…..THEN you know you’ve got a keeper.
If not, and she thinks you got a better deal than her, then you’ve got troubles, Buster….because I think Bob himself is quite a catch!
Remember #1 rule of relationships: “Never fall in love with someone who isn’t also in love with you!”
